On my Facebook (yes, I know Facebook is a place for trivia!) page this morning, I wrote something which it does no harm to repeat here. When you read this, I trust you will take heed of its message:-
Alas, due to “the bleak mid-Winter” weather, Rosie & I won’t risk the 9 miles drive over the hills to be with our Family this year “just in case”. We’ll be OK – we have emergency supplies of chocolate and there’s lots of good stuff on radio. We’ll have a Family Day when the weather’s better.
However, it brought home to us the fact that there are many people who, at this time of year, are spending the Festive Season on their own. They may have shelter, food, telly, etc., but they may have precious little friendly contact with fellow human-beings.
It would be good for every one of us to look for and befriend the lonely, not only “because it’s Christmas”, but all year round. Give it a go, Facebook Friends – All You Need Is Love.
