Sunday, 21st September, 2013.

There’s been a calming stillness in these parts for several days now. I can feel it, despite the passing of vehicles when the dog takes me for my early morning walkies. I feel it when I take my solo late-afternoon strolls. And that’s despite the calling of birds: jackdaws, crows, sparrow, red-kites and many more.
It’s as if Mother Earth is pondering on something deep, even spiritual.
I have felt that same stillness in other, unexpected places during my life. Even in once-industrial Wolverhampton, certainly around Cannock Chase.
It is reminding me that this is a lovely world full of beauty and joy.
Yes, I know I’m being a fanciful old fool.
But please find time to go outside and listen for that stillness.
