Just Thought I’d Tell You – Chapter 13
Fights were well-attended events, but it was nearly always the Big Boys who had them.
One day in a class where we were being encouraged to make something brightly coloured from soggy newspaper, I said “I’ll have a fight with you, Fearny.”
And he said “Alright”.
So everyone arranged it and we met in Gloucester Street after school.
I was bigger than him, and a man got off his bike and told me so. Everybody told him that Fearny had started it so off he rode again.
I won because Fearny cried first and Mom arrived too late to stop us. She wanted to know why it had happened but I didn’t know.
