To Elizabeth.

To Elizabeth

I’m sorry, my love,

That I’m so old.

I’m sorry that I can’t see

The magic of your new discoveries.

The popping of convulus flowers

Or pinched snap of the dragons

Are small to me and

I do not have to stretch

To reach the door knob.

17th August, 1973
