Yesterday’s Days.

There are times when I wish

And it ends with a sigh

For yesterday’s days

On my grandfather’s lawn,

With the sun in the sky

And the green of the grass;

For ice-cream with Elsie;

To the shop far away

With rationing on;

The creak of a deck chair

In the hot yellow day

And pop from my Mom.

A tear from my heart

I let loose for the past

And yesterday’s days,

For no-one but I

Holds the memory fast

Of my unspoken life.
